Beroep: Opleider, trainer ski- en snowboardleraar. Begeleidt Nederlandse skigroepen en skiles geven in de skischool (meerdere jaren actief gedaan in de skischool Sport-Alpin in Zell am See). Opleider bij Snowsports Academy (en werkzaam op kantoor om alle voorbereidingen en verdere ontwikkelingen van de opleidingen up-to-date te houden).

Heeft vele vervolgopleidingen gedaan om op niveau te blijven en verschillende groepen in de skischool te kunnen begeleiden:

"Tomas, kun je ons iets over jezelf vertellen?"
"Ik ben Tomas Schuijtemaker, woon in Vinkeveen met mijn vrouw en onze twee honden. Mijn dagelijkse werkzaamheden staan altijd in het teken van de wintersport. Ik werk voor Snowsports Academy en het CIOS Haarlem Hoofddorp. Snowsports Academy is een internationaal opleidingsinstituut voor ski- en snowboardleraren. Het CIOS Haarlem Hoofddorp is wel bekent als het oudste CIOS en als enige sportopleiding bieden ze een 2 jarig traject aan voor ski- en snowboardleraren.

Er gaat geen dag voorbij dat er geen ski’s in mijn auto liggen om te reizen naar verschillende Nederlandse indoorhallen en of rollerbanen om daar opleidingen en trainingen te geven aan skileraren, trainers en docenten. Vanaf september begint de wintersport alweer volop te leven en ben ik tot december non stop hier mee bezig. Ik reis in deze periode ook veel tussen Oostenrijk en Nederland omdat ik als Oostenrijks Staatlich opgeleid skileraar niet alleen in en voor Nederland opleidingen verzorg maar ook voor de WSSV (Wiener ski- en snowboard verband). Tijdens onze laatste Oostenrijkse opleiderscoördinatie hebben we als gastspreker Sandi Murovec op bezoek gehad, de coach van Tina Maze. Dit soort sprekers geven mij altijd stof tot nadenken en inspiratie.

Als de winter in zijn volle glorie van zich laat spreken heb ik tijd om zelf wat tourtjes te maken. Naast deze momenten bezoek ik studenten tijdens werkzaamheden en stages in voornamelijk Oostenrijk. Ik bezoek dan al snel 50 van de 550 skischolen in Oostenrijk en ga altijd in gesprek met de skischool eigenaren over de wintersport zodat ik up to date ben over vernieuwingen en ontwikkelingen.

Als de winter langzaam zijn einde nadert maak ik nog gebruik van de geweldige voorjaarssneeuw om backcountry te skiën op de Stubaigletsjer en met de studenten van het CIOS te verblijven in Krippenstein am Dachstein waar we een week vullen met alle technieken in het hooggebergte en verblijven op de Dachstein gletsjer waar we dagelijkse ski touren maken. We werken dan samen met één van de meest professionele outdoor bedrijven van Oostenrijk ‘Outdoor leaderschip’. Laat de winter maar komen! "
